BITESIZED BIKEPACKING - TRANSIT CYCLES

TUCSON, AZ

In our second installment of "Bitesized Bikepacking" we visited our friends at Transit Cycles in Tucson, AZ. We wanted to see what the Sonoran Desert had to offer, just a short ride from the shop. Boy oh boy, did it deliver!

We wanted to keep the mileage modest since it was an overnighter on a Tuesday. So we reserved a site at a campground on the outskirts of town. Once the shop was closed for the day, we rolled west towards the trails, into a perfect Arizona sunset. The route was meandering through the neighborhoods and backstreets of Tucson integrating as much trail as possible. Everyone settled in for the night after a few hours of good food and conversation.

We awoke to a beautiful desert morning and what looked like a possibility of rain. Some of the crew had to depart extra early to make it to work on time, but a few of us stayed behind to enjoy a second cup of coffee and take in the sunrise. The remaining group unanimously decided that we would take the fun way home. It would be a little bit longer than the ride out, but would consist of almost all singletrack! Much fun was had hooting and hollering on the trails of Tucson Mountain Park and we arrived back at the shop shortly after it opened for the day.

Thank you to Jenna and the crew at Transit Cycles for showing us around and making our visit so special.
